This 6WH20 marine engine uses a compacted graphite iron block with a strong rib layout that raises strength and improves the safety margin during heavy-duty work. With an overhaul period of up to 25,000 hours, the engine helps vessels reduce downtime and stay in service longer.

The crankshaft uses high-strength alloy steel formed through fiber forging. Its full-balance structure keeps vibration low and increases reliability. Supported by Weichai’s global supplier network, the engine benefits from stable, high-quality parts. A dust-free, temperature-controlled assembly line and accurate testing stations also help ensure consistent performance.

Strong Power and Fast Response

The Weichai 6WH20 900–1320 kW marine engine delivers strong output across its full power range. Each cylinder reaches about 220 kW, while the engine maintains higher explosion pressure than many similar models. Its efficient pulse turbocharging system raises dynamic response and improves air supply at all speeds. At 50 percent of the rated speed, the engine can reach nearly 100 percent of the rated torque. Because of this, ships gain better low-speed power, quicker acceleration, and smoother handling.

Fuel Efficient and Environment-Friendly

A high-efficiency intake and exhaust layout works with pulse turbocharging to support full combustion. As a result, the 6WH20 engine reaches a minimum fuel consumption rate of about 193 g/kW·h. The three-ring piston design, together with a scraper ring, keeps oil consumption in the range of 0.3–0.6 g/kW·h. The engine also meets IMO Tier II, China Stage I, and China Stage II emission rules, giving shipowners cleaner operation without reducing power.

Easy Operation and Simple Maintenance

A modular layout of external parts improves access during daily service, and the compact structure helps save engine-room space. The integrated design with a single-piece cylinder head supports faster disassembly and lowers maintenance cost. In addition, the three-section connecting rod allows quick cylinder lifting, making routine service work easier and more efficient for onboard crews.
