The Weichai 12WH17 900–1620 kW marine engine delivers strong reliability thanks to its long overhaul cycle of more than 20,000 hours. It uses a compacted graphite iron block and cylinder head, together with a forged steel crankshaft, to increase stiffness and raise the safety margin. Moreover, Weichai’s global supplier network ensures stable and consistent component quality. With a clean, constant-temperature assembly workshop and high-precision test benches, the engine reaches a high manufacturing standard from the start.

Strong Output with Excellent Torque Reserve

The 12WH17 marine engine provides high power, offering up to 135 kW per cylinder. It runs with high explosion pressure, giving it a clear advantage over similar products. A newly developed waste-gas turbocharger improves both mid- and low-speed performance while still protecting high-speed output. Even at 50% of rated speed, the engine can deliver up to 115% of rated torque, which helps vessels gain faster response and stronger reserve power.

Efficient, Clean, and More Economical

The engine uses an efficient intake and exhaust system together with a pulse turbocharging design, helping it reach a fuel consumption rate of 194 g/kWh. Its three-ring piston structure, combined with a scraper ring, reduces oil consumption to as low as 0.3 g/kWh. At the same time, the Weichai 12WH17 marine engine meets IMO Tier II and China Stage II emission standards, allowing ships to operate with cleaner and more stable performance.

Smart Connectivity for Modern Marine Operation

The engine connects to the Weichai Smart Cloud platform for real-time data processing and remote diagnostics. Through an intelligent onboard terminal, crews receive maintenance reminders and status updates. Fleet-level smart management also becomes easier, since the system can collect and monitor operating data to help improve efficiency.
