The Weichai 6WH17 478–735 kW marine engine delivers strong reliability with an overhaul interval above 20,000 hours. Its compacted graphite iron block and cylinder head, together with a forged steel crankshaft, give the engine high stiffness and a large safety margin. Supported by Weichai’s global supplier system, each component meets strict quality standards. Moreover, the dust-free, constant-temperature assembly workshop and high-precision test benches ensure stable and consistent manufacturing.

Strong Power with Fast Response

The 6WH17 engine offers high power with 135 kW per cylinder and features a high explosion pressure that puts it ahead of similar engines. A newly developed waste-gas turbocharger improves mid- and low-speed performance while keeping strong high-speed capability. Even at 50% of rated speed, the engine can reach up to 115% of rated torque, which helps ships gain faster acceleration and better reserve power in demanding conditions.

Fuel Efficient and Clean Operation

With an efficient air-intake and exhaust layout and a pulse turbocharging system, the Weichai 6WH17 marine engine reaches a fuel consumption rate as low as 190 g/kW·h. Its three-ring piston design with a scraper ring further reduces oil consumption to 0.3 g/kW·h. At the same time, the engine meets IMO Tier II and China Stage II emission standards, offering clean and economical operation.

Smart Connectivity for Modern Fleet Needs

The 6WH17 engine connects to the Weichai Smart Cloud platform, enabling big-data processing and remote diagnostics. The intelligent onboard terminal provides maintenance reminders and real-time operating information. Fleet-level data collection and monitoring also support better management and higher operational efficiency.
