The Weichai 16M33 1284–1545 kW marine engine uses a cast-iron block with a grid structure and a high-strength forged steel crankshaft to ensure stable performance under demanding marine conditions. With support from Weichai’s global supplier network, all key parts maintain dependable quality. All seawater pipes use cast-copper or stainless-steel materials, while the seawater pump is made of pure copper to provide stronger corrosion resistance. Both the cooling and lubrication systems are equipped with emergency interfaces to improve safety during long voyages.

Strong Power for Various Vessel Types

The 16M33 engine offers a wide power range and a torque reserve of more than 20%. It is available in both low-speed and high-speed versions. The low-speed model delivers higher torque in the mid-to-low speed range, making it suitable for vessels requiring strong pulling force. The high-speed model provides higher torque at mid-to-high speeds, giving ships better performance during fast sailing. This flexibility allows the engine to match different ship types and working conditions.

Fuel Efficient and Economical

To meet the needs of different marine operations, Weichai developed both low-speed and high-speed versions of the 16M33. The low-speed version achieves lower fuel consumption at mid-to-low speeds, while the high-speed version runs more efficiently at mid-to-high speeds. This targeted fuel strategy helps reduce operating costs across a wide range of working conditions.

Comfortable, Smooth, and Environmentally Friendly

The 16M33 engine achieves a vibration severity level not higher than 21.2 and can be equipped with vibration isolators to improve comfort for crew and passengers. At the same time, the engine meets IMO Tier II and China Stage I emission requirements, while electronic-controlled versions also comply with China Stage II standards. This balance of comfort and clean operation makes the engine suitable for modern marine environments.

Practical Features for Easy Use and Maintenance

The pre-lubrication pump offers two practical functions: pre-supply of engine oil before starting and removal of used oil, making oil replacement easier. The modular design of the oil cooler and filter keeps the structure compact and simplifies installation. A side inspection window on the engine block allows easy maintenance, while the overall layout remains neat and space-efficient.
