The Weichai 8WH17 662–1000 kW marine engine offers strong reliability with an overhaul interval greater than 20,000 hours. Its compacted graphite iron block and cylinder head, combined with a forged steel crankshaft, deliver high stiffness and a large safety margin. In addition, Weichai’s global supplier network ensures stable component quality. The dust-free and constant-temperature assembly workshop, together with high-precision test benches, further supports excellent manufacturing consistency.

Strong Power and Fast Response

The 8WH17 engine provides high output with 135 kW per cylinder. Its high explosion pressure sets it ahead of similar products. A newly developed waste-gas turbocharger improves mid- and low-speed performance while keeping strong high-speed capability. Even at 50% of rated speed, the engine can reach up to 115% of rated torque, which helps the vessel gain quick response and solid reserve power in challenging working conditions.

Fuel Efficient, Clean, and Cost-Saving

With an efficient intake and exhaust system and a pulse turbocharging setup, the Weichai 8WH17 marine engine reaches a low fuel consumption rate of 190 g/kW·h. Its three-ring piston structure with a scraper ring reduces oil consumption to as low as 0.3 g/kW·h. At the same time, the engine meets IMO Tier II and China Stage II emission standards, supporting cleaner and more economical marine operation.

Smart Connectivity for Better Operation

The engine connects to the Weichai Smart Cloud platform, which enables big-data processing and remote diagnostics. Through the intelligent onboard terminal, crews receive maintenance reminders and real-time working information. Fleet-level data collection and monitoring also improve management efficiency, making marine operations easier and more transparent.
