Strong Power with Fast Response

The Weichai 8WH20 1213–1765 kW marine engine delivers strong output for ships in many working conditions. Each cylinder reaches about 220 kW, and the engine maintains higher explosion pressure than many similar models. Its pulse turbocharging system improves air delivery, raises dynamic response, and increases efficiency. At 50 percent of the rated speed, the engine can reach nearly 100 percent of the rated torque. As a result, vessels gain faster acceleration, stronger push at low rpm, and smoother handling.

Fuel Saving and Cleaner Operation

A high-efficiency intake and exhaust system, combined with pulse turbocharging, helps the engine lower fuel use. Under ideal conditions, the 8WH20 engine reaches a fuel rate around 193 g/kW·h. The piston uses a three-ring layout with a scraper ring to reduce oil use to about 0.3–0.6 g/kW·h. In addition, the engine meets IMO Tier II, China Stage I, and China Stage II emission rules, so shipowners gain cleaner operation while keeping strong performance.

Easy Service and Low Maintenance Cost

A modular layout of external parts gives better access during daily service, while the compact structure saves engine-room space. The integrated design with single-piece cylinder heads makes disassembly easier and helps lower maintenance cost. The three-section connecting rod allows quick cylinder lifting, so crews can complete routine service work more efficiently.
