During development, Yuchai applied strict mechanical validation standards to the YC6T marine main engine. The engine has completed extensive durability bench testing to ensure long-term reliability. The cylinder block uses high-strength alloy cast iron to improve structural rigidity, while a one-piece forged steel crankshaft enhances fatigue strength and wear resistance. In addition, the one-cylinder-one-head design simplifies maintenance, and evenly distributed cylinder head bolts ensure uniform load distribution. The valve train adopts a high-mounted camshaft layout with short, rigid pushrods and roller tappets, which further improves reliability under continuous marine operation.

Fuel Saving and Cost Efficiency

The YC6T marine engine features four-valve technology to significantly increase intake and exhaust flow area. With a centrally positioned injector, fuel atomization becomes more uniform and combustion more complete. The combination of turbocharging with intercooling and an electronically controlled combined pump system allows precise fuel control, enabling maximum energy release from every drop of fuel. Equipped with Holset or LiXin turbochargers, the engine maintains a wide economical operating range. Compared with engines of similar power, fuel consumption is reduced by approximately 10–15%, while mechanical and pumping losses are significantly lowered.
